P3D Value of 1200 Keystone set
I just saved myself $1500. I placed this bid for the Keystone
1200 Tour of the World set which is auctioned right now in Ebay
(auction closes Dec. 24th)
At first I thought I had made a mistake. My impression was that
this set sells for $1200. At least, it used to sell for that
much 7-8 years ago. But I was informed that it sells for much
more than that. And, as a matter of fact, the current bid of
$2025 has not even met the seller's reserve price.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Where exactly did I miss the boat? I have the 600 set. This used
to sell for $600. Has the price on that one increased too?
The Keystones are among the most common boxed sets. Many serious
collectors don't even bother with anything made by Keystone, or
even with curved views.
Is the new wave of affluent baby boomers affecting prices of
stereo views?
I guess that's the end of my collecting of boxed sets at market
prices... I got my lucky break when I bought a large number of
them for about $100 each, 8 years ago. I also got the U&U set
on "Greece" for $120 and I thought I was paying too much at
the time... Is it time that I stop feeling guilty and perhaps
considering selling some of these bosed sets? Or should I hold
on them as an investment?
Where is this world going??? Don't tell me that one day people
will be collecting blistered VM packages too...
