I would add that if you're just looking for basic illumination rather than
"action stopping" flash speeds, there is another solution:  Olympus cameras
and flash units (certain models) are designed to have a relatively long
duration flash and are fired BEFORE the shutter opens so that nearly any
shutter speed can be used (the limit being on the slow end rather than high
end!).  I suspect this would be a much easier situation for achieving sync
between two cameras.  Of course, exposure calculation is a little more tricky,
and it's of no use if you're trying to photograph water drops on impact, etc.
