P3D IMAX glasses

Several years ago I questioned IMAX about the inclusion of polarizers in
their viewers. (This is obvious as you look through one pair of viewers
while slowly rotating another.) They said polarizers are used as a back-up
system in case the LCD sequential viewing system failed. I don't recall,
however, whether they said polarizers were *added* to the LCD viewers (as
another layer) or whether the polarization was some kind of LCD default
setting.
