Hi All,
Arrangements are proceeding for the 9th Annual Stereoscopic Displays and
Applications conference to be held in San Jose, CA, Jan 26-28.
The following announcement relates to the demo session which will be
held 2:50pm to 5:30pm on Wednesday 28th January.
Demo equipment & slides or videos are requested from all conference
participants. There are many regular attendees of the conference who are
subscribers to this list - I hope it will be of interest to other
subscribers as well.
Andrew Woods.

TO: Authors and Participants of Stereoscopic Displays and Applications IX
and The Engineering Reality of Virtual Reality 1998
As in the past few years, IS&T/SPIE has graciously made available to us a
room for the display and demonstration of stereoscopic and VR equipment.
Not only are all authors encouraged to show off parts or all of the systems
that they will be talking about, but also all participants in our two
conferences have the same opportunity. Demonstrations of your latest gizmo
or 3D/VR "title" are welcome. The room will be open all attendees to
Photonics West. (We usually get quite a few people coming from the Exhibit
Hall.)
The Demo Session will be in the same room as last year: J2, which is right
next to our lecture room, J4. Setup should be done the morning of
Wednesday, the 28th, or during the lunch break. (It may be possible to
store equipment in the room overnite, but security cannot be assured.)
The session itself is scheduled for 2:50, immediately after the Keynote
Address. The room will be monitored or locked during the morning and the
rest of the day. Please coordinate your setup with Andrew Woods or Mike
Weissman.
Six-foot tables will be placed along the two long walls and power outlets
will be supplied. If you would like a telephone line, let us know ASAP.
This is possible if you can pay for it. (Even ISDN is available.)
The 3D video projector and slide systems will remain in Room J4 for those
of us who would like to just bring tapes or 35 mm slides. The most
convenient format for 3D video is NTSC/Field-Sequential - equipment will
be available to display this format from VHS or S-VHS tapes. However,
the projector system (provided by QD Technology again) is made up from
two LCD projectors, so we can also support dual channel presentations.
You will need to bring equipment that supplies either NTSC or VGA (640x480
at 60 Hz) to the projectors. (Please check with us if you would like to
do this; someone may be bringing equipment that you need.)
Looking forward to seeing you in San Jose!
