P3D Image Tech lenticular camera update
- From: Emil Volcheck <volcheck@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
- Subject: P3D Image Tech lenticular camera update
- Date: Tue, 06 Jan 1998 18:25:08 -0500
Today I spoke to Loretta Leake (pronounced "Lake"), the Image Tech camera
sales representative. I asked about which of their cameras has the best
optics, about when their new camera goes on sale, and why Ritz Camera needs
so much time to process their disposable Image Tech cameras.
Here is her reply.
Even if you're not interested in photographing with a lenticular camera
yourself, and few on this list are, I believe, I think we should all pay
attention to those who are trying to mass-market stereophotography.
-----------
Dear Emil,
Thank you for your email. I will gladly send you some information
about our cameras, please provide your mailing address. Currently,
the 3D Wizard has the best optics of our selection. It has
multicoated glass lenses, while all of our other cameras, including
the new 3D Trio, have plastic lenses. It also has multiple aperture
settings.
The 3D Trio will be our first camera with automatic exposure control,
and it will be motorized, so this may be the best camera for you.
Unfortunately, an air date has not been set for QVC. It will most
likely be introduced in early March. Until that time, we are unable
to sell it to our other customers, in fact we have not even set a
price yet. [Their website quotes a price of $89.95. --Emil]
Please remember that 3-5 days in house does not include any
transportation time, and does not reflect the season. Perhaps Ritz
camera is very busy due to the Christmas Season.
Should you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at
any time.
Best regards,
Loretta Leake

Loretta can be reached at (770) 416-8848 ext. 11.
I also inquired as to some technical data on the cameras. I reported
earlier that their $14 disposable camera has a hotshoe. This camera
has three 27mm lenses, rel. aperture f/9.5, exposure 1/100 sec.
For comparison, their Wizard camera has three 33mm lenses; a choice
of three apertures f/4.5, f/9, and f/16; and exposure 1/100 sec.
The Wizard sells for about $100. It has a built-in flash but no hotshoe.
It can be modified for a PC cable flash-unit for an additional $65.
