P3D Ice Storm

First let me say that I find the ice storm that is plaguing Canada
and the Northeast US a real tragedy and do not wish to trivialize it
or offend anyone that is having to endure it.With that said I would
like to know if anyone is documenting it in 3D. Not only the
devastation, but the beauty as well.

I have done a fair amount of ice photography (both 2D and 3D) but
mostly in caves. Photographing ice formations can be rather
challenging (remember to always check your lenses for fogging!), but
the rewards are well worth it. Doing it at night (like in a totally
dark cave) gives you extra flexibility in lighting and can produce
dramatic results with reflections and back lighting and such. Ice
crystals and hoarfrost take on an otherworldly appearence when
captured in macro 3D (Jon Golden - RBT Macro - is the storm hitting
your area?).

Then there is the journalistic subjects of the workers clearing
lines, repairing, replacing, etc. Not to mention what must be an army
of volunteers helping in all areas.

I really think there is enough different and varying subject matter
to warrant an entire show at NSA 98. Maybe several of the 3D'ers in
that area could collaborate and produce what could be the best show
at the convention.

If people are photographing this event and don't want to do a show
then what would it take to convince you to let me look at your
slides? I would love to borrow, temporarily exchange, permanently
exchange, or just outright buy Realist format slides.

By no means do I claim to be an expert (or even anything close) in
any one aspect of photography (either 2D or 3D) but I have learned
(either from someone else or by trial and error) a few tricks for
photographing ice formations. I would be more than willing to share
this knowledge with anyone that is interested.

Thanks for the time,
