The experiments of John Logie Baird in the early part of the century have
fascinated me too especially as I am a radio ham. An interesting book
called "Seeing by Wireless" by Ray Herbert describes a number of his 3D
experiments  ISBN 0 9527452 0 8. The book includes details of Stereoscopic
TV in 1928  would you believe?! and a full article, photographs of Stereo
High Definition Colour in 1941. He had also transmitted across the Atlantic
in 1928 and had made video recordings in 1927 ...  there are interesting
web sites to be found on your search engine, particularly one about the
history of the Crystal Palace.
