Attention: Dan Shelley

New 1998 KODAK price list catalog for all KODAK dealers and
camera stores that send film to KODAK for processing lists as a
service under 35mm film processing "Stereo processing and
mounting" which is only done at the Dallas KODAK lab, which
KODAK has repurchased from KODALUX. Both KODAK
CONSUMER SERVICES and the KODAK Dallas Lab have
toll free 800 numbers where you can obtain information.

In 1997 you could mail in 36 exposure Kodachrome or E-6 film
(exposed in Realist format only) together with a check for $4.10
and "stereo processing and mounting" printed in the special
instructions box directly to the Dallas KODAK lab and receive
cardboard mounted stereo slides suitable for hand viewing but
NOT for projection. Best to send your film to any KODAK lab in
a PK-36 mailer with "DO NOT MOUNT" printed in the special
instructions box and receive your film back in a roll uncut. You
then cut your film and mount it correctly for projection using the
Reel 3-D Mounting gauge and either RBT (ordered from Jon Golden)
or Albion mounts (ordered from Reel 3-D), or better yet in 2x2 GEPE
mounts (GEPE 6301 24mm x 24mm combined with a vertically
oriented GEPE 6801 21mm x 28mm to create a 21mm x 24mm
opening.

PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT use the term "3-D" any more, as some
KODAK and camera store clerks will tell you that KODAK no longer
mounts in "3-D". THE CORRECT TERM IS "STEREO PROCESSING
AND MOUNTING" as in the KODAK price list. Some of these young,
new, and inexperienced clerks think that "stereo" and "3-D" are not
the same, or perhaps that "3-D" refers to Lenticular 3-D prints from
cameras such as NIMSLO, NISHIKA, TRILOGY, WIZARD, PHOTON,
RITTAI, 3-D Magic, etc. I tested this out last week at the KODAK lab
here and was told by both the receiving clerk and her supervisor, as well
as the customer service person on duty, that KODAK will process the
film but will NOT mount in 3-D, but that the Dallas KODAK lab will mount
stereo. I was unable to make any of the three persons understand that
3-D and stereo are the same.

Further warning, if you exposed film in a full frame 35mm camera through
a beam splitter and IF YOU WRITE "SPLIT-FRAME STEREO, NOT
HALF-FRAME, USE REGULAR MOUNTS" in the special instructions
box on a PK-36 mailer and mail or take it in to a KODAK lab, it is likely
to be sent to the Dallas KODAK lab, held up for 30 days or more, and
possibly chopped up to be mounted in Realist format. This happened to
me recently. I suppose we should write: "NOT HALF-FRAME, USE
REGULAR. FULL FRAME MOUNTS" to avoid having it chopped up and
mounted as half frame slides at double the price. Again, I recommend
writing "DO NOT MOUNT" and then doing your own mounting for beam-
split stereo.
