Joel, congratulations on the successful startup of the Northern Colorado
Stereo Club!!! Even in this age of electronic communications people still
like to gather in one place to meet with other people in person and
attending a stereo club meeting is still a great learning experience.
Regarding this question:
>Any other clubs out there interested in working out exchanges
>of stereo programs???
It is my experience that stereo programs are owned by individuals and not
clubs. In many cases (like in my case) these "programs" are shown with
live narration so it is difficult to ship them to another club to show.
But there are individuals that have put complete programs with taped
narration. Also, PSA has a library of programs that will loan to members.
I suggest that your club joins PSA now in this early stage and see what is
available for loan.
In our club (O-hi-O Stereo Photographic Society) we had no problem making
up a program schedule for the year 1997-1998. Each meeting includes two
activities. The 20 activities for the 10 meetings of this season are/were
as follows:
- 6 slide competitions
- 3 "workshops"
- 8 "programs"
- 3 open house/projector
By "workshop" we define an activity whose primary objective is to teach
useful techniques for our photography, like mounting, taking hyperstereos,
etc. This is a club effort and everybody is encouraged to participate but
one person is usually in charge.
A "program" is a presentation by an individual on a specific topic. Some
of our programs this year: "Stereo Imaging in Science and Industry",
"Las-Vegas in 3D", "View-Master", "Stereo Cards", etc. For the month of
April we have scheduled to show a PSA program but have not worked out the
details yet.
The other day I was thinking about possible activities for the next year.
I came up with so many ideas that could not fit them in one year. Some
ideas: 3Discover, slide bar stereo, montages in 3d, View-Magic, Before the
Realist, Paintings in 3d, and more!
There are so many stereo things to be presented that a club should not
have a problem filling up their schedules. Our club has the reverse
problem. Maybe we should change our meetings to weekly? :-)
