In Detroit that's because the current officers have done all the 
pleading and pressuring beforehand.  Volunteerism has been a problem
over the years in our club.  I have been a club member in
Detroit since 1983 and I can't recall ever having an election where 
there were two candidates to pick from in any given position.  I do
think that the volunteer spirit is improving in Detroit, but we have
a long way to go before we could think of doing something like hosting
an NSA convention.
