Probably...
My personal M.O. when shooting stereo is to select the largest f-number that
still gives me a reasonably fast shutter speed for the conditions (e.g. handheld
camera, stationary subject, I might go as low as 1/60th sec.) But if this puts
me at f/22, say, I'd gladly sacrifice an f-stop to get a faster shutter speed...
it's definitely one of those "play-by-ear" situations, where the total depth in
the composition comes into play.
The rule-of-thumb is to favor larger f-numbers over faster shutter speeds, until
camera shake becomes an issue (how steady are your hands?).
