OK, I lied. I am not going to drop this thread. Especially when I see
subject lines with my name!!!

>Dr. T implies that because we don't have elected officers that we
>are disoganized and therefore can't be a club and that the people
>who come to our meetings aren't members.

First, I did not say or imply that you are disorganized. Second, yes, I
insist that those who come in your meetings are not members! They are
"attendees". Those who are in your mailing list are.... well "in your
mailing list".

I am in many mailing lists (judging of the amount of junk USP mail I am
getting). Does that make me a member somewhere? I am a member of NSA,
PSA, ISU... etc. and I know (roughly) what that means. I am in Harry
Poster's mailing list. So, what?

I am not in your mailing list. Am I a member? How about those in your
mailing list that do not come to the meetings or contributed anything to
your collective effort. Are they members?

You see, the word "member" is defined in the constitution of organizations.
You are saying that you are a club and you talk about members but there is
no definition of what that means. The organization does not need to have
elected officers (NSA for example has officers but are not elected) or
titles but it needs some document describing how the organization operates.
Your "constitution" now looks like that:

- Name: Stereo New England
- Objective: Promote Stereoscopic Imaging in the New England area
- Officers: Who ever feels like doing work
- Meetings: Whenever our officers feel like calling one
- Members: Anyone in our mailing list

Make this document official so the people in your mailing list can declare
themselves PROUD MEMBERS of the STEREO NEW ENGLAND. Who knows... maybe I
can join you too.
