P3D Beyond "Stereo New England"
>George, I'm not sure why you're concerned about this. Folks here seem to
>be happy with things as they are. What problem are you trying to solve?
I am sorry if I have not made this clear. I am trying to determine
which is the best way of operation for a stereo club. What are the
advantages/disadvantages of specific structures, like Tom Martin's
MPLS/SP group, Stereo New England, etc. This is I believe of interest
to those who might be thinking, or being in the process, of starting
something similar (like it is happening right now in NY or Colorado)
Regarding Stereo New England, if things are working and people are
happy, this is the end of it. I tried to point out to a potential
danger in this arrangement: A club is a collective effort where
members contribute and get something in return. If a club has not
defined what the membership is then there is always the danger
that people get the benefits and contribute nothing in return. For
example, I can ask to join Stereo New England and receive some benefits
(currently a meeting announcement) without planning to attend or
contribute anything to the club. Of course, this will only be a
problem if 100 people do the same, this is unlikely to happen.
In any case, I would appreciate it if some of the many club officials
or people closely assosiated with clubs or stereo activities, would
offer a few words of wisdom to those who are contemplating starting
such effort. I am convinced that these operations of valuable for
those close enough to enjoy the benefits.
Now I just saw some postings by Larry Berlin and need to get back
to work! :-) Sorry for the confusion!
