Dave, how about moving to Cleveland?
Maybe this will give you some ideas. Here is what we did: We asked
Reel 3-D for help. Reel 3-D must have the largest data base of
potential stereo enthusiasts. Anyone that gets interested in stereo
will usually get the Reel 3-D catalog right away.
We were only 3 confirmed stereo enthusiasts in this area. Reel 3-D
was listing 300 people in the area. We sent a letter to everyone
leting them know of our first meeting. 50 people showed up. Maybe
20-30 people were from this list. The rest were personal referals,
friends, relatives, arm-twisting, or perhpaps a couple who picked
flyers that we left in local camera shows.
I suggest that you ask Reel 3-D for help. Get the database that spans
up to 200 miles from Idaho. See how large this is. Send a letter
informing people of your intention to start a stereo club. Decide
on the details and a few months later send another letter with the
details (helps if you round up an interesting program for a start).
Then go the meeting place at the specified date and time and pray. :-)
Good luck!

PS. Please, PEOPLE, don't bug Reel 3-D unless you are dead serious
about this. David Starkman and Susan Pinsky have a business to run.
They helped us get started and I believe they will help anyone who
is serious about starting a local effort. Their help to promote
stereo is greatly appreciated.
