P3D Re: Stereo Kite Photography

Tony Davies....

In the View magic Portfolio of the Stereoscopic Society I recently viewed
some aerial shots which has encouraged me to look at taking pictures from a
kite. I've found quite a few links on the net and wondered:-

1. Whether any of you out there have tried this?

2. The firing of the trigger would be radio control. The set ups I've seen
have involved expensive model aeroplane motors to power a servo to press
the shutter release, however I use (amongst others) twin XA2's. The shutter
buttons are not electromechanical and thus just completing the switch will
fire them off. A company here in the UK is selling transmitter and receiver
boards for about £20 a pair (Maplin Electronics) and adding a simple
thermistor it ought to be able to fire them off easily. The problem is that
the old XA2's are not motor driven (although an early add on unit was
available at one time), any suggestions guys on what would be another cheap
non electromechanical camera - i don't want anything too expensive if I'm
going to hang 'em off a piece of string.

Cheers
Tony
