You can't equate 2.2 V alkalines with 2.2V ni-cads. They are different
animals with different current characteristics as mentioned in my previous
post. Example, a 1.2V alkaline has already gone through a portion of it's
life cycle but a fresh 1.2V ni-cad will be more than capable of supplying
the needed current.
Also since ni-cads have a very shallow voltage slope, it is hard to
equate life of the battery vs. voltage. I have used ni-cads in quite
a few P&S and they worked fine.
