P3D Argus camera - how good is the 3-D effect?

I'm thinking of purchasing one of those cameras that produce stereo
pairs out of a regular print (like the Argus) so no special developing
needs to be done. Has anyone ever viewed regular prints like these with one
of those stand-up viewers? How good is the 3-D effect? What's the best
camera like this for the price? Can you make slides with the Argus camera,
and would there be a viewer which could view such slides - one slide with
a stereo pair. Where can I find an Argus for the cheapest price? I've
seen it for $80, but I'm wondering if I can get it for less than that.

I'd love to take 3-D photos of ruins in Greece - I'll be on a backpacking
trip there this coming May. I don't know much about photography, but I do
have a good eye for interesting shots.

I'd love to be able to create viewmaster reels, but they don't make the
viewmaster cameras new anymore, you need a special film cutter, special
processing, etc. But boy, viewmasters sure are cool. The light coming
through the film, and looking through the theatre like frame, really draws
you into the picture.

I have a feeling the stand-up viewing of these prints made by the argus
would be pretty unsatisfying in comparison to viewing pics through a
viewmaster, or some similar slide method.

Cost is definitely an issue for me. I don't want to have to spend any more
than $200 or so to get started.
