P3D 3-D in Vegas:

A quick update on things 3-D in Las Vegas.
The 3-D Imax at the Luxor hotel is currently showing both
"Into the Deep" and "L5 - First City in Space". These are
being shown on alternate hours through out the day.
They use IR triggered liquid crystal shutter glasses. I
think the cost of these shows was about $9.00
There is an ongoing stage show at the MGM Grand Casino
called "EFX" starring David Cassidy (of Partridge Family fame!).
At each seat were placed a pair of cardboard polarized glasses.
During one scene, a HUGE screen rolls down, and a short 3-D
film is shown. Lots of stuff in your face, and done pretty well,
IMO. This show cost $45.00 or $70.00. Lots of fire and smoke
in this show, if you're into that. :-)
For those into recreating old stereo-views (like me), there is a unique
opportunity involving a pyramid and a blimp. There is a SANYO
advertising blimp flying up and down the strip. I waited out in front
of the Luxor Casino (shaped like a pyramid for those not familiar
with it) for about 20 minutes until the SANYO blimp flew overhead.
Sort of resembles the Keys view of the Graf Zeppelin flying over the
pyramids of Giza, Egypt. I said sort of! :-) It's probably the closest
I'll ever get to Egypt!.
Las Vegas is filled with plenty of 3-D opportunities. Remember to
take your tripod and cable release for those night shots. I believe
there is more neon in one block on the strip in Las Vegas than most
towns have in total!
