Twinned compacts are a whole lot easier to shoot with than Realists. The XA-2's that I use
occasionally are fully automatic exposure so I don't have to bother with that. Focus is 3-point
(near, medium, far). Kinda limiting, but they've got 35mm lenses so most everything is gonna be
in focus given the typical DOF. For typical snapshooting, an automatic camera (FED or
twinned Oly's) work quite well. One less thing to fiddle with. I've used both of those cameras
under typical conditions without any problems. I kinda like not having to futz around with a light
meter when I'm shooting pictures of the kids. (spare me the sunny 16 sermon George)
Of course in more unusual shooting situations the autoexposure won't be able to hack it very
well. For that you need something with a manual mode.
BTW - What are FEDs going for lately anyway? If they were cheaper it'd be worth trying to hack
manual control and/or interchangable lenses onto a body.
