P3D JPS format

Is JPS, the DepthCharge image format used by VRex, a proprietary 
format?

Somehow, I got the idea that it was nothing more than a 
pair of cross-eyed JPG images saved with a JPS extension. I've tried 
this with some of my images--it works to some extent--but they have 
nowhere near the quality of those on the VRex web site. Basically, 
all the images I create have seven horizontal banding, which I 
don't see in the images VRex has.
