Dr. Themelis, may I have the envelope, please?

(scratch, rumple, rip, rip...)

And the winner is...

BILL STICKLEY!

Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen! Bill Stickley has won the Wet
Toes contest! Just as soon as we receive his mailing address and subject
matter preference, a Fabulous 2x2 Stereo Pair Slide (complete with keystone
distortion) will be on the way!

Mr. Stickley's entry was received just one hour and forty five minutes
before the deadline. His was the fifth and last entry before the deadline.
One other entry was received post deadline, today.

I regret to say that no one entry was entirely correct. This is partly my
fault, because it was my intention to somewhat mislead all contestants.
The correct answer was that ALL OF THE SHOWCASES, except the computer
generated digital work, were shot toed-in. Because of this little
deception on my part, I feel that I must choose a winner based on how close
their selection came to being correct.

Every entry received correctly eliminated the digital showcase from their
selection. Bill Stickley wins because he selected all but the architecture
and digital showcases. The architecture images were shot with reduced
convergence (about 2 degrees), placing the stereo window (i.e. the
intersection of the optical axes) at a distance of about seven feet. For
that reason, keystoning is all but undetectable in those images. All of
the other showcases present close-up subjects, which I shoot at a
convergence angle of 5.75 degrees, putting the stereo window at about 2.5
feet!

I want to thank all contestants, who must have spent quite some time
looking for keystone distortion among my stereo pairs. In some cases, I
think it is nearly impossible to identify on-screen. Depending on the
subject matter, even on the slides, the distortion is quite difficult to
identify.

And congratulations to the winner!
