I agree with all that has been said.  Things can be frustrating.

However, if our star "Sol" is named "IERUI#J #)_*)(#*_$&#" by the
Royal naming society on a planet around some other star, who's
name is the *real* name?  Our name, or theirs?  I'm sure they
think they have the only legit naming organization.  :-)

IOW, the problem with the "3-D" scam is that they are technically
bogus while the star naming scam isn't really technically bogus
so much as they having a lack of standardization authority. 

Heck, I can name a star, it's just that nobody else calls it
that.  Bogus 3-D is still bogus though.
