Not exactly true.
It's the OUTPUT of these 3D programs that is ususally 2D, but all the
stereoscopic information is there. Some people do take advantage of the
situation, and OUTPUT stereoscopically.
The analogy would be that most peole take 2D photos of our real 3D world,
even though all the stereoscopic information is there. But there are a
handful of people who take advantage of the situation...
