P3D Lamps for TDC 116 Projector

I bought a TDC 116 projector from Dr. T, and will be using it for a
stereo slide show. Both of the existing bulbs work, but I need a pair of
bulbs for replacements.
The original instructions mentioned that I could replace the 500W lamps
with a pair of 750W lamps for larger audiences (mine will be for 50-70
people with a 70" Da-Lite Super Picture King screen).
(I found a reference in the (beautiful!) Kiowa Valley Stereo pages about
retrofitting a TDC 116 for modern halogen lamps, but the results they
got were not much of an improvement, and also required a lot more
cutting and threading than I have the skill for. So that is out for
now.)
Does anyone have information on the feasibility of using these 750W
lamps, and does anyone know sources, prices and lamp numbers for modern
500W and/or 750W projector lamps I can use in my TDC 116.
Thanks in advance!
