P3D Blue LEDs

I recently got an issue of "Advanced Imaging" which has a whole
section on the new blue color LEDs. One short paragraph particularly
caught my eye:

William Bohnnon, chief scientist of Manx Research concurs..."People
are already using blue LEDs for backlighting...and they're being used
in 3-D glasses and minature displays also".

Did anyone out at the recent show see anything along these lines on
display (was that SPIE?).
