P3D Nimslo bulb setting

I want to try some close-ups using the inner lenses (and a large close-up
lens, Burdlo style) of my Nimslo. I remember reading, here, that you can get
a bulb shutter by putting the batteries in backwards - and it works. I
wondered, however, if doing this for long periods of time, like calibrating
focusing distances, would damage the electronic stuff that times the shutter.
Has anyone damaged a camera in this way, or do you know if it could be harmful
? Thanks, Walter Wolff
