I have had prints developed by Nimslo, Nishika, and Nimstec, and all 
had a translucent paint at the back of the print - never paper. I 
think the Image Tech prints in the lenticular Expo were like that 
also. The two pre-Nimslo prints I saw at a camera swap meet were
designed to be backlit, and in fact came in a frame with several
small bulbs.
