P3D 2x2x2 Resources
Hello stereo friends,
I am getting ready for an article in the Stereogram, regarding the 2x2x2
format. Since I don't have much experience myself working on 2x2x2, I
would appreciate some help on the following issues:
1. Camera systems
2. Mounting supplies
3. Viewers
4. Projection
1. Camera systems: I personally own and use two popular SLR systems,
Minolta X-700 and Konica FT-1, so I am a bit familiar with those. But, as
you can see, I have not progressed past the 80s (taking it one decade at a
time :-)) What new and exciting is it happening in the world of twin
camera systems? I'd be happy to hear from anyone with experience in any
twin camera system.
2. Mounting: Most people get their slide film mounted during processing in
cardboard mounts. What's after that? How about mounting aids?
3. Viewers: Boris is a big proponent of the Pinsharp viewer. In Reel
3-D's catalog I also see a TV2 ("lowest cost twin 35 mm slide viewer").
Some years ago a very nice twin viewer was available from Italy. Franco G.
from Italy supplied some of these in the Atlanta NSA convention and I
listed this one in my catalog for a while. Any chance to get any more,
Franco? I am also familiar with the Radex from the 50s (60s?), David
Burder's 2x2 modification of the Sterolist and the high-quality viewers
from the Netherlands (via Jon Golden in the US). Is that all? Any
thoughts, opinions, ideas on the above?
4. Projection: Bill Duggan covered this subject nicely some digests ago.
Any other ideas?
Boris sent me a piece to be included in the newsletter. I am also familiar
with David Burder's arguments in favor of 2x2x2 in earlier issues of
Stereoscopy and David Starkman's articles in mounting for 2x2x2. Is there
anything else I should know?
Thanks and regards,
George Themelis
