Whether we personally agree or disagree with the request of one of our
moderators, can we still respect his wishes and move on to other topics
more clearly within the realm of stereoland?
(Stereo-ness? Stereo-dom? Or in my case, stereo-dumb?)
Maybe with the recent discussion of 2x2x2, this is a good time to
mention Joel Alpers XA-2 twinning service. A few folks in Stereo New
England sent a couple of XA-2s they got on the cheap to Joel, who for
pretty short money electronically synched them and put them on a nice
black aluminum twin-bar. Dick Koolish was one of them, and he recently
showed me some slides he shot with his rig... pretty darn nice, with
good sharpness and contrast and apparently good synch. This would seem
to be a fine way to get into the 2x2x2 (or full frame RBT) business for
low cost, with good quality and good portability. Dick even found a nice
case for this rig through David Berensen... I think it may be for an old
Polariod?
Not sure how far the lens spacing is from ortho, but the slides I saw
didn't seem obviously hyper...
