The ideas sound great. There is a transition taking place and it will
continue for a long time. The additional group seems unlikely to degrade the
overall value of P3D, but more likely extend it. I think of it like channels
on TV, only this network of channels is 100% delightfully 3D. The biggest
issue is the time to keep up with all of it. Since that seems impossible
anyway, it's good to know that what might be wanted at any time is nearby. A
big *Thank You* to those involved in operating the lists.

Some of the potentially *non-stereo* 3D aspects of computer work actually
have a lot of value to stereo, as long as that output form is the overall
intent of the information. The major difference is in whether you render
one, two or more images. If the image is originating from within the digital
realm it is necessary to have models and other objects to fill up a scene.
Like in P3D you can use one, two or more cameras, or cameras with one, two
or more lenses. Some discussion of software might be appropriate too, as
basically it is a good thing to encourage more use of stereo with computers
and that means to some degree adding stereo know-how to the software tools.
In the digital realm software takes the place of hardware such as
projectors, viewers and mounting tools, and the image media itself.

Hopefully this group could be attractive to current computer 3D involved
persons looking to take the next logical and delicious step into stereo.
Most have no idea about how to do it, but can figure it out with a bit of
coaching. If this new discussion topic could attract this group of new
talent, expect some lively and creative discussions and related growth in
both the group size and in general stereo interest. It is useful to have the
camera oriented discussions available on P3D to balance and expand the
learning curves whenever it's relevant.

As to the name, I like the D3D or Digital 3D option best. However, if
Holography is a potentially included topic it wouldn't explicitly be
complete, but it's certainly technically oriented. You can't use Tech3D
twice though! SIRDS discussions seem appropriately digital and 3D.

Count me in.
