I think P3D would still be THE list.
(for VM, 3DDiscover, Realist, Kodak, Slides, Prints,
Web Sites to share, etc... - just as it has been!)
S3D is where you post notes about things for sale or trade.
(for I have a complete VM camera, cutter and projector
systems for sale for $199... not really...)
T3D is for specific discussion of technical stuff.
(for ...spatial acuity can be summed up in the following
formula: x2y-10=yatta, yatta, yatta - blah, blah, blah.)
D3D would be for specific discussion about digital 3D issues.
(I use Total 3D's image processor to create JPS images,
but only after I have used Picture Publisher 4 to
clean-up and correct my original TIF images...)
This newly proposed list would only be an extension of the main P3D list.
90% of the Photo-3D discussion would still occur there. How about if a
discussion in the main list starts to be a bit too "digital" we just move
it over... Or, the moderators could use their judgement to ask it to be
moved. If the discussion starts out as very digital in content, then it
should start in the D3D area. (EG - I am using my Snappy, a close up filter
and my camcorder to take 100x macro stereo captures for use in stereo pair,
anaglyph and JPS image creation...)
In the case of this last example, I don't think that mention of the
discussion should be made to the P3D list until there is something specific
to share. (Like: Thanks to help from several of you, I have a new web page
up of stereo macro images created with my Snappy. Came have a look and let
me know what you think...)
To sum up. I don;t know the specific numbers for a fact, but I believe that
T3D and S3D do not even make up 10% of the 3D e-mail volume from "P3D" as a
whole. I suspect that the numbers might change to 15% or 20% of all the
traffic if D3d were created. I know that MOST of my posts would still be to
P3D as they are now... FWIW...
Oh yeah, one more thing. If the new list were crewated, couldn;t everyone
just automatically be subscribed to it as they are to P3D so that no one
would be excluded unless they chose to specifically do so? That way most of
those who want no change would experince "no change" in that they would
sitll get all the images. Then only the few who are not interested in
futher digital 3D discussions could just bow out of that small forum.
BTW - When does the meta discussion end Bob?
