P3D Re: Kodachrome (or film) longevity

I think there are two aspects which make things different between
Kodachrome longevity and hard disk partitioning.
One is that Kodachrome longevity is directly related to longevity of
3d images. Discussion of photo-CD longevity was also discussed as
well. How to store and convert digital images long-term was discussed
quite a bit. Cluster size on a Microsoft-OS computer on the other hand
really makes no practical difference in the images or longevity thereof.
Neither really does partition strategy.
The other big difference is that the PC related issues (the cluster
size in particular) have been asked about and answered probably every day
for the last 15 years in multiple related newsgroups as well as a
zillion books, probably including the "Computers for Dummies" series.
Not that this info shouldn't be known, but that having P3D be yet another
forum for something so repeated (orders of magnitude more than 'Realists
are great') seems inappropriate when the subject relation is peripheral
as well.
It think that some or most want to keep the discussions to something that
is relatively unique -- or at least something not massively repeated elsewhere.

Not irrelevant to the user of the computer, just to this mailing list.
There are zillions of usenet postings having to do with general PC
things. If you do a search of "hard AND disk AND partition" on DejaNews'
power-search it gets about 61,000 hits. "Kodachrome AND longevity" gets
74 hits.
So, general PC administration is already heavily covered elsewhere.
It certainly is ok to slip in once in a while, but seems inappropriate
as a continuing thread. For something like that, a private email
followup probably would be most appropriate.
