P3D Re: Full Frame 35mm stereo slides.
Thanks Larry for the detailed description of your efforts to
get going on 2x2x2 (full frame 35 mm slides)
>I realize that the US is behind in this movement, if indeed it

One explanation of why the US might be lagging in converting
to 2x2x2 is that it is possible to find inexpensive stereo
cameras here in the USA. The same cameras are very difficult
to obtain in other parts of the world. (The Internet might be
changing this situation...)
Also, RBT has put a lot of effort into advancing the art of
101x41 mm slides by offering a variety of wide mounts and
a projector in this format. Dedicated US workers can now
purchase a full frame RBT camera and use wide RBT mounts
and RBT or Brackett projectors.
If a person in not interested in advanced stereo projection
(dissolve, autofocus, automatic feed, etc) then 2x2x2 loses
a good part of its attraction.
Then, there is the question of "worth it". For many people
who are prone to snapshooting, family, etc., the low cost
and convenience might make the 101x41 system a better choice.
Still, there are quite a few people who work in 2x2x2 format
in the USA. Bob Brackett once predicted that 101x41 will
soon die and be replaced by 2x2x2. By the looks of things,
this is not going to happen any time soon in the USA.
