P3D Scanning Verascope Richard Stereopairs

Does anybody know who, if anyone, holds the copyright to these series of
antique glass slides? I'd like to scan my collection to preserve them
against the possibility of dropping the box.

What gamma setting should I use? I presume 1.0 is appropriate since I
may
want to print them. I realise 1.8 is more normal for viewing on a
screen.

I understand that jpg compression of, say 15 (whatever that means),
won't
significantly degrade a 2D image, but could it introduce artifacts that
are
visible in stereo pairs?
