Hi Ron,
I think the point Dan was making in your case is that since you are
(as I understand) accessing an NT (NTFS) system from a Win95
(FAT) system *over a network* then it isn't a problem (the
operating systems at either end take care of read/writes from their
own respective hard drives). I too do this all the time from my home
(FAT) to the office (NTFS).
In fact, if this were *not* true the whole internet would be in trouble
because there FAT systems, NTFS systems, UNIX systems (in
a number of incarnations) and heaven knows what else all have
to talk to each other.
The problem only comes when one operating system reads/writes
*directly* to the hard drive of the other operating system as it will
if you have multiple operating systems on one computer (as I
thought, at first, was your case). Under those circumstances, you
would have to set both Win95 and NT to the same formatting
system (which means FAT since Win95 can't be set to NTFS).
