P3D The Holidays...

Just a quick note to wish everyone joyful happy Holidays, and to take a
moment to appreciate the many wonderful gifts of family and friends
which we have in our lives.

I learned late last week that a friend of a friend just tragically lost
his wife... she was 31 years old and just suddenly passed away without
any warning for reasons no one is yet able to figure out. He has two
small children: a two year old and a four year old...

One of the great mysteries for me in this universe is how and why such a
thing could happen. Perhaps someday I will acquire the knowledge and
understanding of how such tragedy can fit into the lives we lead and the
world in which we live; for now it remains an incomprehensible, random
and cruel instance of unspeakable sorrow.

So in addition to recording and photographing the moments of joy we will
share this holiday with those closest to us, I for one am going to make
an extra effort to put my camera down and make certain they know by my
words and by my deeds just how precious they are to me and how much I
love them
