P3D Cleaning Cloudy lenses tip

Hi,

I found a tip for cleaning clouded glass lenses while reading a blurb
about a camera repair book on Amazon.com.  I sort of tried it, and it
worked.  What it called for was a 50/50 mixture of ammonia and hydrogen
peroxide applied with a Q-tip.  I was just about to replace my KII
lenses with ones from Edmund Scientific and tried using just hydrogen
peroxide and it made them clear!  Windex alone didn't do it.  If there
is a reason this would damage the coating, let me know, or is this
simply removing the damaged coating?
