When I was reading John R's note a couple of things struck me (no, it's
not tornado season here yet :-)
One kind of amazing thing is that so many people are using 50 year old
pieces of relatively high tech equipment (cameras, after all) - Right offhand
if you think about people driving 1955 cars in a meaningful way (to actually
get somewhere rather than as a showpiece), or using 50 year dishwashwers/stoves,
etc the longevity of the film cameras is pretty amazing.
On the other hand, we probably DO need a "stereo on the cheap" FAQ which can
be sent to newcomers talking about doing over/under, shifted foot, digital
compositing, etc type techniques. Anyone who wants to put something together
on this is certainly assured of a place in the archives. If no one steps
forward, I'll try to do it myself sometime this summer.
THANKS
