Well Darren you answered your question yourself.  You must get more
accurate 
synchronization of your cameras.  Electronically coupled slrs or a
stereo camera would do the trick.  You will never get more than the
occasional lucky shot by simply attempting to fire two shutters by hand
if action is your subject.
