P3D emulsion gremlins

Does debris on your slides drive you crazy?  It does me.  I even carry a
hurricane blower and brush with my slides to clean any offending matter
from the image.  But what to do about those specks or lines that appear
without any evidence of external contamination.  My current favorite image
suddenly has a flaw that no amout of blowing, wiping or cleaning will
elliminate.  No matter how well protected my slides are, somehow, sooner or
later, stuff gets into the image.  Could this be the work of the dreaded
Emulsion Gremlins?
