P3D Single Lens 3-D Revisiteddd!

I ran across this today while checking out the site Tony Davies
mentioned for MEDIA RELIEF. On the site they had a link for Alioscopy.
http://www.micronet.fr/~emuller/alio2.html
This basically is a system that achieves stereo by adapting a
single lens camera (be it video or whatever) and by a simple
adaptation (lenticular screen), transforms your television into
stereo without any glasses. The "inventor" is Pierre Allio and some
of you might remember the announcement (and the ensuing discussion)
made by Pierre Allio's rep, Eric Muller about two years ago.
Check digest #1397.
At that time there was scant little information given on how
they supposedly achieve this remarkable "new" technology.
On their web site they give some more info and promise to
revolutionize 3-D, as they did two years ago. I am still waiting.
The system sounds interesting but they make quite a few claims.
First of all they claim to be much better than anything else. I
would believe this but not by the method they propose. Secondly,
they mention that any videocamera can be adapted to 3-D. I don't
see how this is possible. The web site does mention the prototype
uses a large format lens and that it can be done with smaller
regular lenses as well. I have read conflicting info on this and
would be surprised that it would work very well as they claim.
I can see limited potential as in single lens anaglyph. Anyways
there is quite a bit of info on the web site with links to the
IBM patent site with regards to his patents.
I wish them luck and hope this is for real but since I am
skeptical I am not putting my hopes high. Has anybody else
(other than the promoters) seen this Alioscopy 3-D system?
Gabriel
