P3D scanned slide
I did it - sort of. I have a inexpensive scanner but it does go up to 1200
dpi (Avec E330). The company sold a slide scanner attachment for $130
which is more than I paid for the scanner new. There attachment has a
built in light and is powered by AC. This got me thinking...
So...I went to Walgreens and bought a minature floursent hand light (about
6" long) that is battery operated (2 AA) and cost about $7. I put it
inside a paper box and cut a hole on the bottom to match the stereo mount.
I scanned the slide at 600 dpi and it isn't too bad. I had to adjust the
levels with photoshop. I think a little more backlight and it would be
sharper. I just started experimenting. The scan is small but when I
copied and pasted into pagemaker, I was able to enlarge the photo without
too much distortion.
This is just a beginning but the cool back light seems to be the right
direction for not much $$.
I just wanted to put out the idea and have others try in a similar manner.
Keep me (us) posted
