P3D Re: Keystone and U&U Negatives

I was wondering why there are not any reproduction stereoviews,
using original negatives, for sale out there. Do these negatives
no longer exists? If they do exist, are they still copyright protected?
Would it be to costly to reproduce these cards even if the
negatives did exists?
Keystone, of course, wound up with a _lot_ of the negatives--including U&U's--
as the stereoview business wound down.
Several businesses have reproduced antique stereoviews:
A few years ago, someone gave me a set of 10 pairs of 2x2 slides, high-quality
repros of some classic stereoviews. Came in a cardboard box with a viewer and
the box of slides, each numbered and marked 'left' and 'right.' No other info
in the box, or on the slides or viewer, but I know they are of recent vintage.
Does anyone know where these came from?
Though they are probably no longer in business, there was a company -- Stereo
Classic Studios, 145 Algonquin Pkwy, Whippany NJ 07981 -- that in 1978
reproduced hundreds (maybe thousands?) of classic stereographs on glossy
paper. They are reproduced through a litho process, so the quality is not the
best. Probably not from original negatives. They are not uncommon at flea mkts
or antique shops, or in John Saddy's auctions. Some of the views note
"reproduced from the origial in the Ances Collection" or from the collection
of Gary Kessel, or of Gordon Hoffman. Many are Keystone views, but the series
also includes views from the 1860s-'80s. They are all marked "Sample set" as
well, whatever that means.
Then there are the View-Master sets reproduced from vintage stereoviews,
including the "Civil War," "Famous People," "Lincoln," and the "Old Time"
series: Autos, Trains, Airplanes, Worlds Fairs, Ships.... all of which, I
believe, are reproduced from original negatives in the Keystone-Mast
collection.
I've seen some other stereoviews in the classic 3x7 format--all famous
people--marked 'reproduction,' and from the 1960s, as I recall.
