P3D Retailers & value

It's been interesting to read the various views regarding the "value" of
certain items that are made available through this group. I made a bit
of tongue-in-cheek response about the cost of Dan's CD. I believe that
the information will be of more value to me than the $30.00 cost.
I have also found the cost of various items on sale via the sell-3d list
to be quite reasonably priced. I recently purchased a Kodak stereo
camera for $120.00. I received the camera, it was in mint condition as
advertised and it worked great. No sticky shutters or light leaks. I
was willing to pay the $120 asking price because I haven't had much luck
finding stereo photo equipment at garage sales or resale shops.
I appreciate people like Dr T. who are willing to spend time finding
bargains, cleaning them up, verifying their functionality and reselling
them to other hobbyists. And, I would expect him to make some sort of
profit if he desires. After all, if I feel the price is reasonable,
I'll buy it. If not, I won't. It wouldn't matter to me if Dr T
purchased a Realist 2.8 for $25.00. If he sold it to me for $100.00 I
think we both would feel great about the transaction.
As for the value on time, I value my free time very highly. I have two
boys who are at a very impressionable age and I love to spend time with
them. As such, I prefer to spend a little more money to buy back some
of the time I would have spent looking for a "bargain" and spend that
time playing in the pool out back. That's the same reason I hired a
lawn service to mow our yard once a week. At $20.00 per week, I "buy
back" four hours to spend with my family. Quite a bargin in my book.
Thanks to all who put in their time to further the photo 3D hobby,
whether for fun or profit. It's made my progress into this hobby that
much more fun.
Regards,
Ron Beck
