P3D Prescription polarized glasses

Has anyone on the list ever tried to get prescription glasses made with the
proper polarization for viewing stereo presentations? I've tried a couple
of local optometrists but they claim the axis would be off if they tried to
make them with normal polarized lenses turned to the right angle. Any ideas?
