I also bought a Realist (3.5) that had fungus in one lense, (on the rear of the middle
element) at the time of purchase I didn't notice it. After some searching around (on
the net) I found a tip (and bought the book) on camera repair that recommended a
1:1 ratio of Ammonia and hydrogen peroxide would remove the fungus. I have since
done this and it certainly does work, so fungus on a lense doesn't mean the camera
is beyond repair. The test roll I shot shows that the image is no sharper from the left 
lense (although I'm not sure if it may flare a little more). Another reason someone might
still pay reasonable money for a camera with fungus in the lense is that they want it
for a collection not for taking pictures..
