When possible, I place a small auto flash on my Realist, then place
a stronger Vivitar 283 in one corner of the room, I trigger the 283 with
a Wein Peanut Slave (about $ 20) that plugs directly into the 283.
Fills the background in nicely and gives a more realistic stereo look to
indoor shots. The peanut does tend to fire if someone else is using an
autofocus camera or a flash camera in the room.
Nimslo had a really good idea - its "Opti-Lite" flash had two
strobes - one fixed in a direct flash position and the other on a swivel
for bounce.
