Yes, it is!  To the eye, any bright light source looks white and only
by comparing lights can tell the color.  This affects viewers and viewing
slides.  At work we have a "green room".  When the green lights are turned
on after a while everything looks white... until you step out of the room
where everything looks pink... until the eyes adjust again.

Someone suggested trying to see anaglyph images without glasses by having
the eyes adjusted to the complimentary colors first.  We tried it and it
did not work because of the extremely low intensity and color saturation
seen with the adjusted eyes.
