P3D Shooting Fireworks

I'm already thinking ahead to the 4th of July.
I've had good results in the past shooting flat photos of fireworks. I
think this year I'd like to try it in 3D. I would be using two identical
35mm cameras. Exposure would be approximately 10 seconds, attempting to
get several firework bursts into each exposure. Cameras would obviously be
on tripods, and given the long exposure I don't anticipate synchronization
problems.
That leaves me with one question: What stereo base do I use? In other
words, how far apart should the tripods be? I'm assuming that hyper is the
way to go, but I'm not really sure how far away the fireworks are when they
go off.
Has anyone on the list done this before? Any advice would be welcome.
Heck, even a wild guess would be welcome as long as it's identified as such.
Thanks in advance,
Gerald Belton
