P3D RE: Everest vs Into the Deep
It's a funny coincidence, perhaps, but I saw both movies, this weekend, at
the Museum of Discovery/IMAX theater in Ft. Lauderdale.
Personally, I thought that Everest was a very good film. Sure it
manipulated the audience. But, just because it's a documentary, it doesn't
mean that it isn't still a movie. Movies are designed to manipulate the
audience, and the directors of Everest made it clear that they were focusing
on the three main climbers. I DO have to wonder, though, how it would have
looked in 3D. I agree with Boris, there. It was certainly a lost
opportunity.
As for Into the Deep... as I've experienced in EVERY 3D movie I've ever
seen... I had some eye discomfort. Far less than with other formats,
though.
Unfortunately, the head gear is so uncomfortable, that I would not have
been
able to to watch a movie that was much longer than Into the Deep. It's not
all that heavy, but it straps around your head like a baseball cap. If it's
not tight enough, it rests on your nose, and it IS a bit heavy for that. If
it's tight enough to be held in place, it gives me a little headache.
In any case, I enjoyed both films, and would recommend them to anyone.
